Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge ~ WK2

Original Serengetti ~ Snappy H’appy ~ Wk1
Snappy H’appy ~ Wk2: Snapseed HDR Scape of Original ~ Wk 2

There are two versions because I was unsure if I take the result of wk1 and use it as the base of wk2.
If that is the case here are the results:

Snappy H’appy ~ Wk 1: Bokeh

In my post processing of the original, I actually chose a dark filter to blacken and blur everything around
Serengetti to bring out his clawed paw. So in the photo below, the HDR Scape, the filter is stripped,
and the photo is getting a lot of noise, of which I am unclear if the cause is a degeneration due
the photo being 3rd generation. Please comment with your thoughts.

  1. Application of the HDR does bring out some more grain in the photo, but also brings out the shadow areas in a nice way. Serengetti looks like he’s waiting on a manicurist at the nail salon. Could you paint those purple, please, to match my beautiful shawl?

  2. It’s really interesting to see how the HDR Scape worked with both of the images. Without comparison, it’s hard to know what works. Nice experimentation! (and your cat is gorgeous 😉 )

  3. Hiya, in fact, there is no need to base week 2’s entries on week 1’s photos. You can choose to feature a different photo each week and run it through an app. 🙂

As for the noise, degeneration could be a factor as the original Serengetti photo is a little grainy in the shadowy areas.

I would say HDR Scape will also be a factor also. You will find that the greater the filter strength, the noisier it gets.

Good experimentation to see what HDR Scape can do to Serengeti’s photo 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your input and the tip that “the greater the filter strength, the noisier it gets”. H’appy week!
